SLSA: Société Lyonnaise de Soie Artificielle (manufacturing synthetic silk)

1960
Rhône Poulenc and the cellophane company set up the CIPSO
Production of polyester films, mouldings, sheets and acetate films
Launch of the first production line T1 and metallisation

1966
The Cellophane Company takes over CIPSO

1968
Start up of PET Polymerisation unit operations

1979
Rhône Poulenc Films and Rhône Poulenc Systems took over the activities of the Cellophane Company

1980-1996
Rhône Poulenc Films decided to focus on Video and Flexible packaging products under the brand name Terphane®
with dedicated new production equipments

1996
Toray Industries took over Rhône Poulenc Films to become Toray Plastics Europe
with the aim to reinforce local skills with new technologies and Industrial market knowledge. PET films brand name is Lumirror®.

1997-1999
Toray Industries invested 150M€ on new equipments. Thanks to this, this production plant in fully integrated.

  • Equipments to limit company environmental impact by processing effluent, reducing water consumption…

2008
Toray announced a 60M€ investment to produce High Barrier metallised OPP film Torayfan® in France
positioning the French plant as a European leader of premium films manufacturer.

2009
To follow this change, both Lumirror® and Torayfan® activities will operate under the name Toray Films Europe.

2010
Start up of full operation of the new Torayfan® production unit
